Annual Conference
2010 Canadian Cartographic Association
June 1 - 5, 2010
UNIVERSITY OF REGINA
REGINA, SK
The Department of Geography at the University of Regina invites you to participate in the first joint meeting of the Canadian Association of Geographers (CAG), the Canadian Cartographic Association (CCA), the Canadian Geomorphology Research Group (CGRG) and the Canadian Remote Sensing Society (CRSS). As the first joint meeting of these groups, the 2010 Prairie Summit promises to be a unique and special event. The sym-posium will provide a forum for sharing current research findings, and new research challenges and directions. We seek contributions present¬ing novel research in all aspects of cartography, geography, geomorphology, GIS and remote sensing.
In addition to many scholarly presentations, the 2010 meeting will feature opportunities for participants to hold special sessions that transcend particular disciplinary interests. The papers presented in such sessions and passing the peer review process will be included in a special volume to be published by the Canadian Plains Research Center. Through an exciting selection of field trips, you will discover that southern Saskatchewan is comprised of places, spaces and landforms that challenge the widely held perception of a relatively simple and amorphous landscape.
Special Session - The Last 25 Years of Mapping: Helping us move forward at the CCA meeting in Regina June 1-5, 2010
The last 25 years of mapping have been exciting and full of change. We have moved from mainly paper publication to mainly electronic publication. Spatial data are released more openly and freely than ever before. These years of profound change for mapping have not been well documented. In the traditions of Men and Meridians written by Don Thomson and Mapping a Northern Land edited by Gerald McGrath and Louis Sebert, the history of the last 25 years should be recorded.
Through these volumes the essence of the development of this country has been documented through the eyes of cartographers. It is time to provide this perspective for the last 25 years. Cartographers and others are invited to submit abstracts related to mapping and associated fields that look at the last 25 years and provide a view to the future.
Please prepare an abstract and send it to Donna Williams by February 25, 2010 so that we can have them submitted to the conference organizers by March 1 2010.
